2008 - 2009
Registration Information
Applications for player registration will be available April 1st 2008. Forms will be mailed to eligible registrants prior to April 30th 2008 or may be picked up at the Community Centre. Basic fee is $375.00 for players born between 1991 and1999 For players born between 2000 and 2003 the basic fee is $300.00 and those born in 2004 or first time registrants born in 2003 the fee is $125.00.
Completed forms may be mailed to Penticton Minor Hockey Association, Box 24099, Penticton, BC. V2A 8L9 - (Cheques only), dropped off at Game Time Sports (Cheques only), or at the Community Centre (Cash, Debit card, MasterCard, Visa, or cheque - a surcharge applies).
There will be a $80.00 fee for applications received after June 30th 2008. First time registrants exempt.

Cheques only.
Application
fees and Rep fee refunds are pro-rated and are subject to a $10 administration
fee. Insurance and BC Hockey Registration fees ($30) and CHA carding fees ($15) are non-refundable. There will
be no refunds after December 31of the current season unless due to injury, illness or
relocation.
NSF
Cheques must be made good within five (5) banking days of notification or
membership will be rescinded. A $25 NSF charge is applied and the cheque must
be replaced with cash, certified cheque or money order.
All
players will be required to supply, maintain, and use the following equipment
while participating in any on ice activity.

Helmet with full-face mask (CSA approved for appropriate position and age
group)
- Stick - Elbow Pads
- Hockey Gloves - Neck Guard (BNQ approved)
- Jock Strap - Shin Pads
- Garter Belt & Socks - Shoulder Pads
- Pants - Skates
- Practice Jersey - Hockey Bag to store
Equipment
NOTE: All players will be subject to Equipment checks
at the start and periodically throughout the season. Please make sure the
equipment you purchase fits your child properly and is in good repair. Improper
fit could cause serious injury. PMHA provides goalie equipment for the younger
divisions.
All
players will be required to complete and return a signed
Players Contract and
Medical
form prior to participating in a game. Forms will be
distributed by the appropriate Division Director or designate at an evaluation
session.
Team Selection.
The
month of September will be used to evaluate eligible players. Eligible players
are defined as properly registered members approved by the Membership
Committee.
Players (see also Female teams) wishing to try
for a position on a Representative team will be given the opportunity by
offering a minimum of five evaluation ice times at an additional cost.
PMHA will field Atom Development team(s) this season.
Players born in 1998 or 1999 may try out for the program by including the
tryout fee noted on the Application form. Tryouts begin in September. This is not a carded rep program, but teams will participate within
the Okanagan-Mainline structured league play and playoffs.
Players invited to play on an Atom Development team
will be required to pay an additional fee (based on two Atom
Development teams). Team management handles
additional costs associated with the program.
Tryouts for Rep level teams in all Divisions begin early in September.
Players will be evaluated by an independent panel and
recommended to the team coach. A team will be comprised of a minimum 13
players, including one goalie, up to nineteen players, including two goalies.
This team will be considered the Tier one team.
The
remaining player pool, should sufficient numbers prevail, will be further
evaluated and recommended to the team coach. The team will be comprise of a
minimum 13 players, including one goalie, up to nineteen players, including two
goalies. This team will be considered the Tier two or B team.
All players and team officials participating in a league game are required to be carded on CHA Players Cards and approved by BC Hockey.
Players invited to play on a Rep team at any
level will be required to pay an additional fee. All Rep teams have 3 full ice practices each week, one of which
may be an early morning session. Team management handles additional costs
associated with the teams.
Player movement may take place at anytime during the
season consistent with CHA rules and PMHA policies.
Those players not initially successful in securing a
position on the Tier 1 or Tier 2 teams will be assigned to the Recreation team
selection process for further evaluation.
Recreation (house)
team selection.
The Recreation
team selection process will include:
Member in good standing as approved by the Membership
Committee.
The recreation team selection process will be
suspended should there be no Division Director or Head Coach for the specific age category in
place.
Evaluations for the Pre-Novice, Novice, Atom, Pee Wee, Bantam and
Midget Recreation divisions are scheduled to begin by mid September.
Every effort is made by the Association for teams to have one shared ice
practice per week and one home or away game scheduled.
The
players will be equally distributed by the Division Director based on
evaluations, gender, siblings, position played, age - balanced number of first
year players, and be given residential consideration.
Team balancing may take place at anytime during the
season.
A
Female team will be established should sufficient numbers (minimum of 13
players) exist.
The
female team may be placed in the Division most appropriate to their competitive
ability.
A
female may tryout for a Female Representative team should there be sufficient
numbers to comprise a team. The team will be comprise of a minimum 13 players,
including one goalie, up to nineteen players, including two goalies.

Female players may also try for a position on the appropriate divisional
representative male team. If successful in securing a position on a male team,
such player may be dual carded or affiliated as required by the Canadian Hockey
Association regulations.
Player
Movement
Player
movement is to be in compliance with Canadian Hockey Association regulations as
administered by the British Columbia Amateur Hockey Association. First year
players may be initially placed in a lower age category for evaluation and risk
assessment.
Member initiated movement.
Written
requests received by the Division Director from a player, parent, or guardian
to change divisions will be given consideration. Such players shall remain in
their existing division and be re-evaluated by an independent tribunal. Their
recommendations are to be communicated to the Division Director in a timely
manner.
The
Division Director, in consultation with the Risk Manager, and Vice President - Development,
will make the appropriate change, in concurrence with the receiving Division
Director should a vacancy exist, and the tribunal recommends movement.
Should
a player be moved to a higher age category, they will be eligible to compete
for a position on the Representative team. No requests will be considered
players requesting to "play on their
friend's team". .
Players
may be moved to a higher or lower division at the discrepancy of the Division
Director, with the concurrence of the Risk Manager, and Vice-President -
Development, should a vacancy exist in the targeted division.
Examples
of Division Director initiated player movement.
1. A
first year player could be placed on the Recreation team in a lower division as
an overage player (OA).
2. A
player of Rep team caliber choosing to play Recreational hockey could be placed
on a Recreational team of a higher division.
3. A
player who is at risk of injuring or being injured by remaining in their
present division may be moved to an appropriate division,
The
registration fees are proportionally established based on the previous year's
concession revenue. In order to receive the maximum registration subsidy it is
imperative the concession be open during practices and/or games and all
confections offered. Each team will be scheduled for concession duties by the
Division Manager, Director, or designate. Please assist by volunteering for
concession duties when required.
Concession
credits for
next season's player registration may be earned by volunteering to work the
Memorial Arena Concession(s) during Vees home games. A $15 credit is issued
for each game worked and may be applied to next season's player registration. Some

First (Together Everyone Achieves More)
PMHA
members have adopted the BCAHA TEAM 151 initiative. Any member is encouraged to
submit a TEAM 1st Incident Report form
if required. Forms are available in the concession. This form is to be
utilized by anyone in the Penticton Minor Hockey Association to report an
incident of unacceptable behavior.
An
individual is considered to be displaying unacceptable behavior if there is
verbally or physically harassing and/or abusing a game player, team official,
on-ice official, minor official, spectator or the misuse of an arena or other
facility.
